    Default Sometimes luck will prevail

H and I hit the dusty trail yesterday for the family place out in the country ,went to do some work on a few things on the camper and tend to the cameras and check stuff .
took rifles in case we had time to hog hunt , just saying..
decided I would put in the new flooring in the bathroom it was in desperate need of , my bad ......
thought it would take about an hour or so , ended up taking 4 ....
bought that big ole 2 bedroom from a bud a few years ago for 1500 bucks , it is in pretty good shape for an old girl , around 20 years old , she has had leaks though back when and the bathroom floor was all cracked and peeling up from previous rain water damage and age and little kids in the bath and etc etc etc....
never realized EVERY single wall was at an angle ,not a straight one in the bunch , I suppose it is due to size constraints, but wow did it make a simple job a nightmare !
so as we get close to done he stops for second to get a drink and looks out the sliding door and says hey , look at all the deer !
I was like uh oh ....what time is it ? looked at the clock and said oh my its 3:45 ! you NEED to be in your blind if you want to hog hunt , he said you coming ? I said nope let me finish the floor , it is close to done .
So off he goes on his long walk and I get back after it , I just got done and was about to start cleaning up and then it happened ....KABOOOOM !
I was like what the heck , he has only been in the stand 25 minutes ?
thought maybe a coyote passed by
So I sent a text and said you KABOOM ? He said yes, momma pig down ! I was in the at 4:30 in the afternoon on a bright sunshine day and pretty warm ?
He said bring the truck and off I went , got there and sure enough there laid a perfect eating size black sow , drove past him to her and rolled up and there laid 2 pigs ! ? ?
Seems as luck would prevail , he had just closed his eyes for a nap as it was to early to see any pigs and cracked an eye open to see a herd under the feeder !
Of course his luck continued to prevail and as she put her head down to eat and he shot her in the head , the young one behind her got too ,,,,,,
all carved and iced down BEFORE dark and on the road home at last light ....
don't get much better for sure
so the math is like this >>>>
    1 KABOOM = 2 Nice eating size hogs .....

they were in a skillet shot formation, just saying .....
the floor was just almost too much for this old man in that tight of a location .
and it challenged my grey matter WELL beyond what is reasonable with all the angled cabinets and walls
and yes sir , mom looked about a year or less old and the little about 2.5 or so months old .
will finish them up this morning and start giving away some nice fresh pork this afternoon.
that momma pig had 1 to 2 inches of thick fat under her skin , she sure was pretty all skinned out ....
stay tuned and will shall see if luck still prevails when I smoke one of those hams

Double the pork for the price of a bullet. With today's ammo prices that is the way to go. Good job on the flooring.

spent about 8 years working on an old place in northern MO. basically it was abandoned and we got it for next to nothing. luckily my buddy has serious skills and I bought a lot of material and did a lot of sheet rock, mudding and painting. bones were awesome and found out the original part of house was built in 1840's on a farm and then moved to this tiny hamlet. have to say we loved working on the place and my bud had salvaged some great oak cabinets out of a house being torn down plus refrigerator and stove plus his old wood stove which we put in and heated the place with.

Labor of love for sure and we put in a floor like that in kitchen. now we have a very comfortable place to go and don't have to do anything, which is good as we are now in our 70's and time to just relax fish and hunt plus visit with all the neighbors. my son and his crew love the place so that's good.

you know isn't that always the way? your bud was just settling in for a good nap and dang it that herd of porkers comes in to disturb him. Well she got what she deserved and her little piggie too! WTG
