    Default Safety harness and lifeline

Please use them. No deer, no animal, is worth what can happen if you don't. No excuses.

A friend died today. He had access to the very best hunting gear and safety equipment. It does no one any good though if they fail to use it.

Thank you. 63 and close to retirement. Please, if you hunt or know that does, and the hunt from elevated stands, ask them to use the safety gear designed to keep them safe.

my condolences to his friends and family , over there years several of my buds have fallen out of elevated blinds .
they were young guns though and survived , one broke his pelvis ,back and wrist , the other collapsed both lungs and blew out the whites of his eyes .
elevated stands are very dangerous to hunt out of even with safety devices in place .
you guys be careful out there .

I went through some fall rescue classes at work. You can only hang in a harness so long before it does damage. With the circulation cut off to your legs the blood starts to pool and become toxic. Self rescue becomes important. They make systems that you can lower yourself to the ground after the fall. They also make harness attachments that allow you to drop a loop under your feet so you can stand up and take the pressure off the veins in the legs to allow blood flow.
