Shot one about 40 yards away in the edge of a hay field. 240 gr hollow point out of a 44 mag lever gun. Through her heart broke the offside shoulder. She ran about 350 yards crossing the road through traffic and expired on the other side of the road

That was a tough doe! Everyone I broke the shoulder on dropped in its tracks. That's my go to shot with my gun. With my bow, just behind the shoulder.

Shot a recurve for ever, since my early teens, then a compound, now since my should is wrecked I shoot a crossbow.
Crossbow is so fast you can't see the arrow, seriously.

Shot a buck later that year. I misjudged the angle. He was angling away took out ribs came to rest under the skin through the shoulder blade. When I hit him he arches his back, settled down took 3 steps and collapsed. Same 240 gr hollow point handload. Expaneded to just over 3/4". Still weighed the same as when it was fired. I thought he was covered in ticks. Skinned him and the little plugs of hair stayed in the meat. Somebody had filled him full of #4 buckshot

shot a 3 legged doe by order of the manager of a big lease , wife said she hit it in the heart and it was gone .
we watched her for the summer fight off other does with her one good foot , she even raised a buck fawn .
so begins the in the dark are you sure you hit it in the heart walk ? we walk down the hill a bit with flashlights . about 80 yards straight away from the blind is fresh blood ALL over the place and leads off into the brush . 4 men and her looked until we about ran out of batteries for the deer .
at one point I crawled away from where the hit took place following the tiny little occasional drops of blood ......
about 50 yards into it and headed into a spot you had to crawl into I found her nested up once again like a quail under a real big thick cedar .
the look on the locker guys face when him and the bud went to grab 4 legs in the dark out of m truck was totally priceless btw ,,,,,
he grabbed and grabbed while we laughed ,to hilarious i tell ya ....
the doe had been apparently shot before best we could tell .
she had a totally healed up shoulder area and when we examined her closely we found a few tiny bone shards sticking out in a depressed area of her shoulder thru her hide .
most likely at least a year old or more wound and she seemed to be doing well on 3 legs
and tough enough to run like heck on 3 legs and crawl like a quail till the very end .
their will to survive is amazing .

There is a YouTube video of a small doe at a cattle feeder. Big Texan standing next to it as if it were tame. He looped his lariat over her neck and she just kind of ignored it. When he cinched it down and began to pull she came unglued and stomped that man. Biting and gouging with her hooves he couldn’t turn loose fast enough. Complete beat down.

In the woods back home most of our deer would run, unless it was a muzzle loader. Through the trees they would go. If you listened carefully you could hear them go smack into a tree. I always figured loss of pressure took away their vision.

There is another video of a man what shot a large bear with his blowgun. That was amazing as he let it get to within just a few feet before he loosed his dart. Bear went about 50 yards and done.

    Good luck out there.
Maybe they will bite this one……

I for one want no part of being stomped by a deer. They can certainly be some mean critters

Hunted with my son last night. Saw 1 doe and fawn. THey are on acorns right now, and I don't have any oaks old enough to produce. Got a better pic of the deer I want to see in person.Name: IMG_0030.jpg
