12-18-20 went hunting and seen a few deer early. There was a hard Frost on the ground so I figured the action would pick up later in the morning. Had a doe come out in the middle green field about 705. She was kinda running circles acting a little funny. Probably trotted 3-4 laps in a 50 yards circle about 150 yards away from the box I was sitting in then ended up leaving the field to the north. About 715 my boss calls me asking if I’m at the plant.... I explain I had already work my 40 hours for the week and I was hunting, it’s rare for him to call. He explained that their was a chemical spill at work I might be needed for a RCA meeting. I said well, I’m hunting but could probably be at work by 10-1030ish if he absolutely needed me. He said don’t worry about it unless I get another call. As I’m getting off the phone with him I see another deer come out and it’s a buck. He comes out in the field and runs straight at the box I’m sitting in. I holler at him at about 40 yards from me. He stops at about 15 yards from the elevated box.... I can’t shoot he’s too close. He turns and runs south crosses a culvert. So as I pull my gun out of the front window and am putting it out of the south window, I dial my scope down... I think. Well actually I turn my scope to a higher magnification... As I get the gun out the window I holler at the deer again and he stops turn looks back at the box, all I can see is brown... I find the front leg and stick the cross hairs behind the fold of the shoulder and pull the trigger, 6.5 creedmoor pops, and I can see the blood spewing out of him as he runs back into the woods, I think I hear him crash but I’m not certain. He was about 20 yards from the box when I shot him. I sit in the box for 30 minutes before getting out to find blood. Once I find blood I slowly follow the tail to the woods and see him laying there about 20 yards inside the wood line. He ended up being a 9pt decent buck. From the time he came out till the time I shot was about 20 seconds, it happened super fast. He’s not a monster buck but I’m proud to have gotten him. I was by myself with no help so I don’t have any pictures of me and the deer. Also, come to find out they did need me for the meeting, so I called in teleconference style, while I was cleaning the deer lol. I never made it to work that day.
