My friend down here in South Arkansas had one of them pumas. Never saw him in the wild, though.
He was suspected of killing a man on the 6 th .....mauled to death by a wild animal was the report .......
local forensic folks argued it probably wasnt a lion even though several said it appeared to be a lion kill ....
seen all over the northside of dallas by the lake for the last few weeks
160 lb male and a day or so ago it wandered by a deer hunter in those parts
in Texas we have not much for rules on varmits .....
lions are fair game year round ....and there are more here than folks realize
66 % of their diet is whitetailed deer
the rest is made up of feral hogs and small game
we have lots of whitetailed deer here btw ....
and then ....KABOOM was the word

seems like a lot of male puma's have moved into middle part of country. havn't seen pics of females with young. know that males get the wander lust and will go great distances by instinct but females usually hang around closer to home.
Just another reason I hate cats.

males have a huge home range , females not so much ....
but to be sure in these parts they never seem to stay long in one area ....
not sure if its do to lack of prey or what ....
i think i read around 25 square miles in some parts for females ....
probably difficult to manage the cubs wandering farther than that ?
males have a much larger range and when they are young i have heard some stories of the next state wandering ...
right now my main objective is still a recipe for one ...you know just in case
Years ago, friends of mine witnessed a lion killing an elk in Colorado. They said it was so horrific and the noise so terrifying that they packed up camp and left the area. Lions are nothing to mess with!
