I ain’t in Texas, but it seems that ALL of the deer I’ve had on camera have gone missing! Including does! If they show up, it’s a night photo.
Seems the vast majority of the larger bucks have gone awol on my place .
my bud says neighbors got all of them . i want to think not .
i want to say rut and wanderlust and they will return when the does cool off .
some young bucks i have never seen are showing up now and a few of the so so racked bucks .
All the 10 points and really wide and really tall ones are missing ....
please tell me they aint all in someone elses freezer
got some good doe numbers in there right now
seen 7 in one photo , so it isnt like i dont have food items to take home.
and there is a pretty nice 8 point or 2 left ...
it just the racks i kinda liked all went into see ya mode

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
The pigs ate em!
When is the rut in your area typically?

They are locked down with does here now. Bumped the one I was chasing and his doe the other day putting up another stand.
Right now where I’m at they aren’t messing with the feeders much. I normally feed 300 lbs a week. The last 3 weeks they have been half full. I have one feeder that they will eat 50lb in 2 days. It was still half full at 7 days. The acorn crop is unreal. It sounds like I’m driving over bubble wrap once I get in the woods headed to the feeders. I’m still getting a good amount of bucks pictures on salt lick’s though. Give it another 3-4 weeks and they will be tending to the ladies and they will sho nuff go missing. Then we will start getting pictures of bucks we hadn’t seen all year. Also last week I had 4 new bucks show up. I’m sure Texas in way different than Alabama though.
the primary is about now , seems to peak around thanksgiving
some start earlier and some much later , but right now is pretty close to full bore
saw a big boy yesterday about 7 30 am on the side of the road with a younger buck
he was so bristled up and ears back and swaggering it almost made me laugh
not sure if the young one knew he was serious or not
but a whipping was about to commence for sure

we have a darn near zero acorn crop this year around my neck of the woods .
they are on the corn pretty hard and that worries me a bit .
anyone who puts out corn a week before season will likely see deer on it .
hopefully the older bucks i used to see dont run across the weekend crew
it is what it is i suppose

time to be whacking those does and smaller bucks with ugly racks and little genetic potential. my sons crew comes up to my cabin every year and if it's brown it's down, while I am more particular.
