I'm gearing up for another Dove Field planting season....going to plant 40 - 80 acres of gold colored milo this year including the spots where I had sunflowers last year to fight the pigweed issues we had . I'm probably going to plant the milo in 30 inch rows and plan to mow a few rows prior to opening day. Plan to plant strips of sunflowers and millet in small sections of this 160 field.....also have a 6 acre strip of winter wheat inside the milo field that I'll mow and burn before SEPT 1.....I plan to have sunflowers planted under my 4 fake power poles again this year as well as using big round bales scattered around field edges for blinds and shade
Questions : Whats the best way to remove some of the milo plant residue after mowing to give doves access to seed on bare ground ?
