Jackie public lands have plenty of Turkeys but they are very hard to kill. I killed a handful on public land and still hunt it every chance I get. My first advice is learn to listen and then listen harder lol. Second Don't call much. Get inside his bubble before you start calling. By bubble I mean as close as possible. Public land birds want come as far. Being a great caller is overrated. In the woods you just a another hen. Woodsmanship has killed more birds that calling by far. Set up is very important, you want to set up where the Turkey has to come within 40ys to see you.

If you want to talk about it pm me and we can talk about it more. Most Turkey hunters are tight lipped. I learned on my own because the only hunters I knew weren't going to tell you anything. I'm still far from a expert but I can tell you some ways that I've messed up and maybe you want make the same mistakes .

I'm looking forward to opening day tomorrow as well. This is my second year hunting them myself and I'm going to call less and use little to no decoys. Hopefully this will help me land a bird this year.

Looks like it's going to be raining in the morning in my area. I'm setting the clock but if it's raining I'm going back to bed and fishing tomorrow evening. Rain is moving out by 9 or 10
