All of them I see must have gold internals. For a gauge that everyone thinks is useless they sure demand a premium when found. Even the ole JC Higgins and other hardware store runs of the Mossberg in 16ga are premiums. And when you see a Browning sweet 16 better have an armored car with ya picking up.
I own 5 different 16 gauges. Wouldn't sell them for anything. I purchased a used double barrel Davis and sons 16 for $125 about 20 years ago a guy offered me $700 for it. The trouble with a lot of the newer 16's are that are made on a 12 gauge frame. Was checking some out and they were weighing at right around 7#. My double weighs right at 6# 1oz. the pump is around the same weight. Have a bolt action and 2 single shots.
Browning had a run of 16 gauge BPS a few years ago and they sold out and haven't produced any since. With the introduction of different types of shot being used today the 16 has been revived and started to be used where the 12 was king. Just look at the 410 and 28 gauges. For years they had a small following now they are used out in the duck blinds and have the same killing power as the 12 if you use the right type of shot. Same with the 16 I use mine in the duck blind and never feel under gunned.
Keep looking you will find one.
I have a Winchester mod 12 in 16ga. It is 59 years old and still works fine. Inherited from my dad, still shoot it but don’t really want to take it to the field. All he ever did with it was rabbit hunt and shoot at crows in his pecan tree so it really hasn’t had a lot of ammo run through it.
I have a Stevens/Savage 311C double. It’s basically brand new. Bought off a guy I was stationed with in 1976 for 35 dollars. He was one of the first people I ever ran into that got them self’s in credit card debt over their head. He fired 3 rounds through it and I have fired 2. At one point several years ago you couldn’t even find ammo for them.
Love my 870, its 12ga have a 1100 too but would rather use the 870. GREAT GUNS!!! Good luck on finding a 16
