Default north wind drizzly and chilly ......photo heavy

cant get much better here . 50ish all day ….light north wind cloudy with off and on drizzle
I saw it coming and told everyone I will be out of town Thursday ….
got there before first light and spread feed out of the truck window and parked and started to get ready .
less than 5 minutes in the blind and here they come ...2 bucks and 5 does and they stood still like statues for what seemed forever while you wait for enough light to tell how big the bucks are .one was lots larger than the rest and I could see a high rack in the dark .
anyway about the time I could start to see the does all looked up and blew out of there light a bomb went off ? I told myself something ugly is coming and readied for the moment ….
the bucks stayed and looked right at me and then ….
in the wee light a big black back passed right under my window in front of me ! yep big boar and right to the corn piles he went ….the bucks looked at him and each other and went right back to eating !
i quickly decided the big boar wasn't getting out alive and told myself i hate to shoot him while the 2 bucks are there so i waited . sure enough something in the woods to my left startled the bucks and they left stage door right. the old boar just kept eating and then in a blink took off trotting away stage right as well . when he got out about 75 yards he stopped and looked back and as you can imagine KABOOM and down he went .
it was a parade of animals all day long and they were still out when i took my lunch break and still out when i got back .i saw the same group of turkeys several times and a group of hogs i wanted the sow out of but she would not come out of the brush with the lil ones and saw bunches of deer and in the end only took the one big boar out of the flock.
took about a billion photos and had a great time viewing the woods that were alive with game in those conditions ….nobody liked the downed hog much and it made em all spooky even after i dragged it off .
and NO it wasn't edible for sure ….the old boy was a warrior and even had an ear bit off .
will keep you posted on my next visit to the woods ….am out to the ranch in a few
hope you enjoy the read and photos .

Good shot on the boar, was the sow spooked or just smart to stay inside the brush? Don’t have hogs up here, not sure if they are smart or just wary?? Nice pics of the wildlife, the does are tasty also!!

They are sure here in Blount County, and will flat tear a place up in a short time! IMO they are wary AND smart.....limit most of their destructive activities to the graveyard shift!

Well if you see one while deer hunting this year lower the Kaboom on him. From what those Texas fellers say they are some fine eating and I have a couple seasoned smokers that can be fired up any given weekend!!

That's a big'in for sure. You really can't tell how them big bore taste , I've cleaned a few and some are great and some will make a buzzard lose his appetite. Best to take the smaller ones for food. Those big boys can take a hit to. I killed one with a muzzleloader lasted year, took to in the head before he was done. They are very smart around here away. Pig are smaller than dog and can be trained to do all kinds of things. (Find drugs, wild mushrooms and do tricks)

I think they are smart , but in this case the one acorn tree dropping in the woods held her in the brushy perimeter...i also watched a flock of turkey go to the same spot quite a while
