I've built a lot in my days. Some on the ground, some on trailers, some in the air.

When I was 4, my dad built our first one with a small wood stove. If it wasn't for that blind, I wouldn't have the love of the outdoors that I have.

When I became a father, I wanted to ensure the comfort of my daughter without her wanting to go home after 10 minutes. Plus I had a disabled father in law who lived with me and enjoyed the woods. I built a similar version to the one below, just smaller.

This is a recent build and isn't finished as I am still painting and finishing the inside. I have a building background so it is built just l like a house would be. All windows are custom order. This is basically a cabin 14 feet in the air, 12x12 built on my property 3/4 of a mile from my house. At present, I have 15 tree stands and three box blinds varying in size. I bow hunt 90% of the time but this is used to wake up and get to where I need to go. My 70 year old dad loves to hunt and mom tags along. My daughter hunts (11) and so does my wife.

It is something my family enjoys and does together. Is it excessive? Yes but we enjoy it a ton. Not just hunting but watching deer too.

Very impressive tree mansions, those would be nice to spend the night ( or two) in the woods in.

Material was free...so was the labor.

I caught the labor goofing off...can't complain, it was free.

This was on some MI public land. I typically hunt from portable treestands brought in and out each day, but I needed a spot to sit with the little guy until he is ready to join me in the air. We may never kill a deer from this spot, but it was fun building it and I'm sure we'll spend some quality time sitting in it.

Let me know WHERE at in Michigan. I cannot magically make a deer walk to you, but I can certainly point you in the best possible direction!

Although I have access to a ton of land, I also have a few honey holes on state land where a few giants have been known to NOT exist!

Thanks for the offer wicklundrh and for the best wishes snagged again.

Home is in the greater Lansing area, but we spend many weekends around Ludington.

I'm not too concerned with killing a deer from this spot, but having a safe "go to" spot on the ground with my son and daughter (who didn't make the blind building trip) is important. I've already had the fortunate experience of many deer succumbing to my arrows and muzzleloader bullets over the years. This year and many years to come is about getting the kids in the woods and on the water as much as possible. Fishing, hunting, mushrooming, mountain biking, chasing butterflies and frogs...I don't care, I just want them outside.

Here is my daughter with some crappie content from a year ago.

Then you NEED to get in touch with me! I also live in the lansing area. I manage some property and have one in particular that I know very well that has been purchased by the state.

And if fate isn't enough, my family is from the Ludington area and I've hunted around it for years! Specifically out towards Custer.

Shoot me a call and we can get together. I live out towards Dansville East of Mason.

I have some awesome spots for you and the kids to hunt, fish, trap, and chase the frogs!

My Eagle Scout project was that I built a handicap accessible ground blind for disabled hunters at the local conservation camp. Lowe’s sells plywood coated in mossy oak camo vinyl. I got it at a discounted price because i told them what it was for. The blind turned out great and I’m now thinking about building some for myself
