Best deal is to build your own. You can buy pretty cheap lower receivers for the AR-10 platform. Then read up on the best barrel and twist rate combination for what you would like to shoot.

Relative to my Son in law has one with a suppressor and goes to a hunt in TX every year. Built this and takes it for pig control. Depending on wind and so on I believe his best so far is 3 down before they run off. They like to see him come with an extra case.

    I know nothing about them.

Remington makes a few in the standard action length. I had a friend with an R25 in 243 with a new Redfield scope and it was a pretty awesome rifle. Palmetto State Armory probably makes the best 308 AR for the price. You will have to look, but I know alot of their 223/556 guns use barrels made by FN. I'm pretty sure Stag, Rock River, Aero Precision, Daniel Defense, Del Ton, Colt, Sig, and maybe Smith and Wesson make 308 pattern guns.

I'm in the build-it-yourself camp. I've built 8 or 9 rifles and carbines over the years, but they were all 556 guns. You have to watch out with building a 308 pattern gun because they aren't all made to the same specs. A few google searches will explain it better than I can. I do know that If you get all the parts for the same type they will go together just like legos. Most of the time building your own will be buying a lower, installing a stock kit and a lower parts kit, and buying an upper assembly. The upper assembly just pops onto the lower with two pins.

If you are after the best accuracy you can get, get a free floated barrel. I've seen chromoly and stainless barrels both shoot very well. I would stay away from a chrome plated bore as you really won't need it and the chrome plating isn't a perfectly even coating. Most guns have them for corrosion protection and to prolong the life of the barrel. An uncoated bore or "Melonite" or some such will be better for you.

As for scopes, you be the judge. I really like Nikon, Burris, and Vortex for quality glass at a good price. Vortex has one of the best warranties I have ever seen on a product and they stand behind their claims. Good mounts are just as important as the glass. I've used the Burris PEPR mounts and like them quite a bit. They are on the heavy side, but they are solid.

Hope this helps and good luck with the search!
