Default A father and his son.........

This young friend (deputy sheriff) brought his son out to let him experience his first deer hunt. Dad did good. He has hunted my place for numerous years
and is now trying to purchase my property. Three years ago he harvested the older version of this one and will have this one mounted and hung next to it. Antlers were almost identical.

Congratulations to him!! That is one nice deer!! What do you think he would score? You wouldn't have a picture of the 1st one would you?

I have taken several online lessons on scoring antlered deer and am no better today than I was prior to the lessons.
This is a photo of the first one he harvested. I have several more with antler growth like this coming to my property.Name: Rustisbuck2013.jpg

I'll share these with you too. Just a small sample of what I've been watching for the past few years.

WOW!! Your not kidding!!! They are identical! That 2nd picture the deer on left side of pole OMG! That heavy 10pt is a brute! If I harvested one like that I would be done hunting for the year. You must take good care of your land and herd. I wish they would do the same around here but they want. I think a buck is lucky if he gets passed 2yrs old. Thanks for sharing the pics, I enjoyed looking at them.

Boy Howdey those are some fine deer. Great job of managing the heard. That looks like a hunters paradise.

that last deer is a very mature animal ....probably 6 or older ....
as far as scoring deer it isn't really that difficult ....
to field judge one if its symmetrical ....count the uprights you see
    2 on an 8
    3 on a 10
ears are about 7 inches ....guage the tine length via the ear
this ONLY applies to crosstimber area whitetails in texas btw .....
then add the tines and times 2 ..
then add 85 ....you will be within a few inches of its real b and c score .
and them are some fine looking animals ....
what area/county do they live in if you don't mind me asking ?
