I missed a nice eight point at 20 yards, arrow hit a limb deflected to ground, next I missed a real nice 9 point, arrow went through the tent flap and wall, deflected to just graze the belly. Nice long big cow horn at 30 yards looking back at me, I shot for the neck and was just a bit to the right and missed. It is called hunting not killing. I had a great time just no meat in the freezer. I did find a nice 8 skull and horns from one someone could not find last year.

Sounds to me like a pretty good season just to have that many opportunities at deer!

Great attitude. I killed one with a bow, gave to someone more needy than I. A doe. I killed a 7 point by gun, gave to momma. I have no deer in the freezer either, its not too late but i have been enjoying chasing squirrels. I have been hunting more and more the last few years. Last year I fished way less and golf. I have really been enjoying myself in the woods. Watching and hearing the woods come alive during sun up has me in awe. I said all that to say, it sounds like you are having a blast.

Long story but I haven't hunted in 3 years. Haven't had deer in the freezer for a while, miss the chili. My last year hunting I took 4, kept 1. Others needed it more than I, and I was glad to do it.
Pox, I hunt alone for many reasons, one of which is what you said. To be in the woods, where you want to hunt, an hour or more before the sun. Words can't describe it, and pictures fall short. I have had wildlife walk so close and never know I was there, my heart working severe overtime. And those that have walked up on me and I never heard them.
I used to deliver near Chesapeake and Maryland, good deer population over that way. Sounds like a good season, all things considered.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
