    Default Savage .17 HMR

Is not for squirrels. I bought this gun last year late. I figured out quick that head shots are a must. Its hard for that though when those greys won't be still, once you scope them you better shoot if they give you about 3 to 5 seconds. Maybe it will get easier when more leaves are off the trees.

Well I think going to make me a bi-pod, hopefully that will help. I was 50/50 last weekend. Those poor suckers never knew what hit them.

I had one and got rid of it. If you miss the head it wastes too much meat. I also think there is no reason to blow ones head clean off - makes for photos that anti-gunners love. A nice neat .22 head shot with sub-sonic works for me.

I have the marlin in .17, my favorite squirrel rifle. Head shots are a must! You also can't use one of those wire game carriers anymore either, unless you look them between the hind quarters and the rib cage. However I have taken squirrels out to 90 yards with it in the fall after the leaves get off the trees. I like it for it's flat trajectory!
If I could find some ammo that my .22 would shoot well (whole story to go along with that), I like it also. Very little noise.

Well I bought the thing on a whim. The gun was brand new, the guy won it as a door prize, I paid 160 for it. If I had known that the HMR was a 22 mag case I probably would not have bought it. I like the gun, very accurate to 150 yards. Just getting those darn tree rats to get still.

I shot a coyote with my Savage around 100 yards, dead with 1 shot. Very accurate round, enjoy shooting.

Mister Jimmy I forget, i found it online I'm thinking at .17 cents per round and I bought 500 rounds. Pretty neat little gun, I don't like it being a bolt action. Makes for carrying extra ammo easy.
