    Default Cold Nose Coon Dog

Fellow put an ad in the paper looking for a cold nose coon dog. Finally after weeks an older gentleman called and said he had one. The buyer told him that the dog had to be able to track a coon on a cold trail. Arrangements were made to take the dog out on a trial hunt so the buyer could see him work. As they went down the trail the dog would jump straight up, come back down and proceed on down the trail. Curious the buyer finally ask why the dog was doing this. The dogs owner replied that he was jumping fences. Buyer says there is no fence there. Owner replies, There was when that coon came thru.

That sounds like the guy who was trying out a cold nosed coon dog. They had him out for a trial and he treed on a telephone pole. He told the owner "There ain't no coon up that pole" The owner told him there was when the pole was a den tree.

I knew an old guy who had an awesome coon dog that had got 2 legs cut off in an accident. The old fellow would push the dog through the woods on a wheel barrow until the dog finally treed the coon. This was all good until one night the dog got on a deer trail and it like to run the old fellow to death pushing that wheel barrow.

I think maybe I've met two or three of them fellers your talkin' 'bout. Ever one of 'em lives in Arkansas today.
