Well, the live trap is working and got two of 'em dispatched. 3 or 4 more and I'll be rid of the little thieves.
This one is going to the freezer.........
and this one will be allowed to grow a couple more years.
Use to have some Blue Tick and Black and Tan hounds that would have some fun with the Bandits in the picture

Man those are some mighty fine lookin deer! Especially the non typical. He is a good looking buck!
RR, what do you have hanging from the dispenser on your feeder? I assume it's to deter the raccoons from getting to your corn. is it working well?
I have the problem with the coons and have come up with using the squirrel baffle that seems to work well except on my protein feeders where they have learned that all they have to do to get fed is start batting the baffle from side to side which allows the protein and rice bran pellets to drop from the dispenser
.
I'm just hoping this one survives until next year. Already had to haul one killed on the road. Lucky he was a stunted spike and already stiff as a board. Coyote bait.

KLS, that thing hanging is a salt lick. For the coons, I paint grease from the top of the pole to the middle of the pole. From the middle to the bottom, I cover with
a mixture of Acorn Rage Juice & Molasses. So far, the coons haven't been back up the poles. Deer don't seem to mind the smell of the grease. I have photos of 'em
lickin' the poles from the middle down to the bottom. I've used the plastic squirrel baffles and they get chewed up quickly. Decided to try the grease and so far, it's
working.

Salt lick ! Great idea - I no longer have a problem with my feeders that have a spin cast dispenser, only the protein feeder with the drop tubes that must hang low enough for the deer to feed, which in turn makes them low enough for a large raccoon to reach and pull themselves up and feed. I too had problems with the hard plastic squirrel baffle's getting damaged. to fix that problem I found some metal baffles and no more problem.
