I guess me and my son have been lucky with Rocky boots....never a problem. We dont buy the Rocky's that Walmart sells though.

I have bought my last pair of Rocky's. I got a pair of Rocky's before our bear season and broke them in with no problem prior to the hunt, but after the first day I thought my feet were going to fall off. I've never had blisters so bad in my life. They weren't even wet. I paid $165 for them and thought I would just wear them at work. After 3 weeks I couldn't stand them anymore because even having them on for 12-14 hours left blisters on my little toes. But, the sole on one was already starting to come apart anyways so I went to Elliot's Boots and ordered a pair of Danner Pronghorns and I LOVE them. I've owned Danner's before but, the soles were to stiff for the way I hunt. The new one's are much better.

My first pair of Rocky's were "used" ones that were given to me by my brother-in-law when I first got back into hunting. After I had them 3 years, the soles started coming apart (not falling off). They get crumbly. I don't know how old the boots are, but i usually expect the uppers to go bad before the soles when they're used for hunting. Anyhow, I wrote the company and asked about it. All they said is that there is a one year warranty and that they no longer re-sole boots. Problem is, these are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn and are goretex waterproof too. since I like the fit, I decided to give Rocky another chance and got a pair of their Sport Utility Max boots on sale for $40-off. These have a completely different kind of sole which appears to be made from a different material. Like my old ones, they are EXTREMELY comfortable right out of the box and I used them for deer season and second goose season this year with no problems. These boots list for $135, so I expect them to last a good long time. I had a pair of 8" Timberlands that I bought in high school 30 years ago. I finally threw them out maybe 5 or 6 years ago because the interior of the uppers was coming apart. Those had Vibram soles on them, and other than having worn down a little bit from the few times I wore them for other than hunting, fishing, and playing in the snow, the soles were still in good shape. I think it's all about the materials with the Rocky soles. They use materials that just aren't as durable as they should/could be. My new boots seem to be made with something different. Time will tell if they've gone with something a bit better or not.

I hate to hear this because I have two pair of Rocky's and I have'nt had a problem with mine yet. About the redwings they are some of the best wearing best quality boots/shoes that money can buy in my opinion. I have wore Red wing shoes for years for work and my next boot will be Irish Setters.
