Default Yesterdays drake mallard going on the wall, picture

Here is a picture of the beautiful drake mallard I shot yesterday. It is not the biggest I have ever shot but the colors were by far the most beautiful I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of mallards over the past 40 years of waterfowling. Not only the colors but the fact that I had the video camera rolling and was able to capture this bird falling from the sky when I shot from my kayak was another reason for having it mounted. What a great hunt it was. The picture is nice but still does not do the bird justice. And it has 3 awsome curls on its' tail. Just a great bird and hunt to remember with a nice mount.

Not much water down here. Still have lots of ducks up there?

That drake should make a great looking mount.

Good looking bird there, slabsrus. Doesn't look like there's a scratch on him.

I'll a little jealous to hear/see that you're killing ducks. Not much going on around here just yet.

Default Penty of birds, but not for long.

There really are still plenty of birds in these parts. But the majority of them will be heading out soon. Starting to get some ice on the lakes and snow is coming for the next day or so. There was actually ice and snow the day I took this bird. Divers by the hundreds on some lake. I will have the short video of this hunt posted by the end of the day. This was finally the first video I have of one of my own shot birds falling from the sky while filming myself in my kayak, and I have been filming myself for several years. Not such an easy thing to do, but a heck of a good time. When the video is posted you will have to watch the flock of jumping mallards good but you will see my mallard fall just after the shot. It was pretty cool.

Nice bird, and with a single shot to boot.
