    Default prairie dog huntin

Hey folks ! I`m wanting to go on a DIY prairie dog hunt this summer and am lookin at either neb, kan,S.D. or wyoming

if anybody has any advice, or tips on where to go would be appreciated

I`m only lookin into DIY cause from what I`ve seen on the web outfitters are fairly expensive for just shootin varmints, but if anybody has an outfitter that has reasonable rates i would consider that too.

    thanks

I think you will have a hard time finding a place to hunt prairie dogs out west. It used to be an easy thing to find plenty of places in Wyoming and they welcomed you with open arms. Not now! They have the smell of money in their nostrils. I quit hunting them years ago. We hunted 4 different places in Wyoming for years. The owners passed on and the kids no longer allow any hunting unless you go through an outfitter.

I have a fellow shooter that goes out to Southeast Colorado says that there is plenty of "dogs" to shoot and the local ranchers are happy to let you hunt. About all that I know about it hope this helps some.

Theres a few people near me that hunts West Ok. Right before you get into NM. Theres plenty of them there. Unless they poison them as they have in years past. I have been trying to make one of these trips for the last 6 years and have not got there yet.
Guess we need to just turn about 5000 out in Mid Ar. And have them closer to hunt. Last trip I made to Northern NM there was plenty of them there. Shoot we stopped at Sonic to eat. And there was hundreds of them playing in the parking like.
    good luck.
