I kept a small lightweight set in the boat. It sure save a trip when I realized the cranking battery didn't have enough juice to crank the motor
I found a piece of #10 Romex solid wire about 6’ long stripped off the outer sheathing and used white and black wire, went to hardware store and bout two sets of ends that go on a battery charger white for hot Black for ground, got some small wire ties spaced them about a foot apart leaving enough at the ends to accommodate a 24 size battery, the cables can be rolled up and put in a quart sized zip lock, throw them in the rod box or under seat, they won’t take a long hard crank but they work good from trolling motor to main battery, I did use them once to start another fisherman’s truck with a weak battery

Yeah ... I carry a set in my boat, that I bought decades ago. Haven't had to use them but once ... night Crappie fishing at Cumberland & running some of my lights off the starter battery. Ran it down too far to start the big motor, so I hooked it to the trolling motor battery and got back to the ramp & on the trailer ... no prob !!
PEEPS ... if you ain't got one in your boat --- GET ONE !! It could save your butt, or someone else's
I carry a lithium booster pack in mine. I have 2 of them and haven't used booster cables in years.

I carry a decent set in the battery compartment. Had to use em once when I blowed the fusible link on the big motor. I also carry a good battery boost pack. I highly recommend one of those too.

I get my boat together I'll be putting a set in the boat. Little 18 hp don't have an alternator for charging batteries.
