You'd be surprised at how much more checking would take place if they could find a knuclehead with 20 under size fish at 200.00 a pop.LOL

Weiss has a 10" length limit and a 30 fish limit per day.

Weiss also has an extensive stocking program. I have read articles that say the population of good fish used to be cyclical. Every 4 years they would have a great year. Fish is what brings people to Weiss, so they stock every year and they create fish habbitat.

I am for better efforts to improve GA lakes. I am for improving the economy of GA by keeping GA folks in GA and bringing folks from other states to GA. I am for catching and eating bigger crappie in GA.

As for government control, they are already in the middle so why not get them to understand what we want to see happen with our tax money and what the return is. No one has spoken up loud enough in the past for Crappie with the fisheries department and DNR. Economic impact means more to politicians than anything else. I can't find one thing negative from any of the lakes in the south that have implemented a program that improves the age classes of crappie. A fisherman/woman can still go to those lakes and come home with most of the time more meat than if they had gone to another lake that didn't have restrictions. Wether it is one or more of the mentioned limits on sizes, poles, numbers of crappie kept, it all will improve most any large lake in GA.

Do all lakes need this type of management? No. One lake above mid GA and one lake below mid GA would be great. I am sure after a few years of seeing how these lakes improve there would be more interest. It would be great if more of us would conserve and make our on effort to improve the fishery we already have.

As for stocking, that may be something to look into.....I wish they would stock some of those Talquin and Clarks Hill crappie into Blackshear!!!! I would have an even better lake within 30 minutes of the house!!!!

Sorry so long but just got to thinking and that's dangerous some times!
