Personally, I have no interest in money tournaments whatsoever, whether for largemouths, stripers, or crappie, although I know loads of folks who love that sort of thing, and I think that's great for them. But if the membership of a local club wanted to fish as a club one Saturday for a $5 or $10 pot, there is nothing wrong with that and participation would always be optional. I too agree 100% that Crappie.com is the best type of club there is, but I think there's room for a few folks to gather together on a regular basis and share a meal and some info on the fishing we all love. That's what I had in mind!

it does sound good and the informantion on fishing and others knowledege would be priceless and i understand your meaning of a CLUB now. but with all due respect all clubs have rules and regulations, and i would like to know them before i commit. like i said before it does sound good and i'm very interested.:D

William, if something like slabfest get togethers is something you have in mind then I'd be interested on Russell. My fishing is limited right now so I'd mainly be interested in fishing, picnicing, BS'ing, and fishing! Opps....already said that. I'm not interested in a club with rules and dues....already been in a few hunting clubs like that and there's always problems with some of the members. My opinion is DNR has already set the rules and the price of fishing is enough for me. I'm not interested in money tourneys so I'd decline those too. I wouldnt want to change the atmosphere of the members of crappie.com at any of the gatherings we have in the future by adding dollars to tourneys. As it is now everybody shares tips and secrets of how they are catching fish and money will destroy all of that. Great idea William. Just let me know what you decide and I'll let you know if I'm interested.

We started the AZCA a little over a year ago. It all started on a board just like this one. A few of us started talking and before you know it, we were up and run. The board we post on has set up a private clubhouse forum for our members were we post meeting agenda for those that can't make a meeting. No stress at all and I've met some of the best friends a guy could ask for. Our club is small (around 30 members) but we've put on some great events so far. We just had our big spring event, 3 days, 2 night at a groupsite at Roosevelt Lake. It may have been the best weekend I've ever had. Crawfish boil, Crappie Chowder, fish fry, BBQ and some great company.

Well guys, I am going to chime in here. A short while back 5 or 6 guys, from this forum, that fish Lake Allatoona got together at Little River boat ramp after a days fishing. We talked about our success and failures of the day and passed around a little information.

Now that 30 min. helped me put fish in the boat this spring. I don’t know about the other guy’s but it helped me eliminate some water and concentrate in areas that I could be more successful.

Now I don’t know about dues or by laws but if anyone that fishes Lake Allatoona would like to sit down an talk fishing for crappie on the lake send me a pm. Two heads gotta be better than one!

Well chosen words Mr.FOM,I myself like some friendly competition,if you fish these tournements to make a liveing you'll starve to death.I guess it is all about some bragging rights, kinda like when Ga.whups Fla,ya know. It's nice to have a little trophy to show friends and family that you have done well at a particular thing ,if its all about money ,it aint half as much fun,,I fish with a bunch of profesional guides in our club and that dont intimidate me at all,it' a good feeling when you out fish them even if you dont win big bucks. It's just a natural thing to want to be the boss hog,Thats the way mother nature made us,only the stong survive and prosper...And like what one gentleman said on here,if you dont like what my thoughts are ,print this out and use it for toilet paper,,Aint nuthin wrong with competition,,ss(Wayne McCollum)

a club sounds nice but in the end it would probably be to complicated just look at home owners associations. i really like the ideas of slabfest and would like to go to one some time if a club can be just like that i'm for it no dues no rules everyone just show up if you can everyone pitch in and just tell lies and fish

I know I will make alot of you mad with me but here I go. I love the idea of the Slabfest and I don't want it to change. We have a bunch of fun as is and I don't want it to change.

I am missing the point here. How would a local club change slabfest?

It won't change Slabfests at all, local clubs would be great for all you guys on the larger lakes to get together and exchange info ,meet each other and so on,and if any of the local clubs get up and running I am hoping that you could sponsor so to speak, Slabfests on some these lakes say once a year where everyone from crappie .com would be welcome. I think what everybody or some are refering to is just letting these clubs get to political with to many rules, regs, fees, dues and so on that it starts to take the fun out what we do, like so many of these so called bass clubs. Keep it casual like Fisher-O-Men is referring to and it will be all good..
