Took my 10 yr old son and my 11 yr old nephew night fishing on West Point. We fished under the 219 bridge near the 219 Park Access. We took 10 crappie home and threw several dinks back. The biggest 3 were in the 11 inch range. My nephew caught his first crappie. Both boys had a blast. We left at 2AM
Interesting note: I had two submersible lights out and 2 clamp on lights with 25W RV lights bulbs. The submersibles drew shad earlier (9PM = 12AM) but few crappie. Eventually the shad left. The clamp on lights drew bugs earlier on but by 12AM, the bugs were about gone. However, the clamp on lights were drawing a different type minnow by 12 AM that the crappie seemed to be stalking. Anyone else seen this happen? I'm thinking about more clamp on lights next time. The're cheap to make and use a low amount of power.

A different minnow/shad on different lights? First I have seen about that. Last night we fished two different spots on different creeks. The shad were bigger on one creek than the other. The fish bit better with the big shad.
