    Default Hummingbird DF's

Check out this thread and reply if you know anything about these. If I'm barking up the wrong tree looking at these two units let me know BEFORE I order either of them so I wont have any regrets. Thanks guys.

I couldn't get a link to work so...
    New Depth Finder: Delemma?!?

OK, here is my deal. (I havent looked at depth finders since I bought a Lowrance LM 522 many years ago. Well, the corners are turning black and the unit is starting to go out. So, that said, I'm now looking at something else.

At work we have this rewards program. We get "points" for various thing and mine has collected over the years. So I decided to check out Hummingbird units. Here's what they offer...

First is the Hummingbird 9 Chirp DI and GPS. (Pics)

    and description...

I'm more leaning towards SI too so this is the unit offered there...

    and description...

Now I'm assuming the first unit is a Gen 2 unit but the description on the "8" doesn't say. Guys, I'm sorta "lost". I know I'm going to have to contact somebody for some answers but not really sure what questions to ask. Does either come with cables and transducer, and which transducer do they come with (I'm assuming more than one can be bought for the SI unit?!?)? If none offered what will I need to buy and what will they cost me? Is the "8" a Gen 2 or Gen 3?

Help me out guys. When I do get somebody on the phone what do I need to be asking them? I'm not familiar with HB at all. Thanks in advance.

I think the 8 will be gen 3. It should come with everything you need transducer and power cables.

If you have the option I would suggest the helix gen 3 series. They made some big improvements especially on down imaging and side scan in the G 3 from the G 2 series. If you have an option to go Garmin get the livescope it's got everybody beat as of now . I don't have one yet but I will as it's a game changer. Scott

I bought the Helix 9 G3 from Bass Pro in January with both side scan and down to mount on my trolling motor. I had Raymarine on it for last 8 years with only down vision. On my console I have Lowrance HDS Gen 3 with both side/down vision. I thought my lowrance side scan and down vision was the heat. It's not even CLOSE to my new Helix. Swapping out my Lowrance soon o the back for another helix once I get done paying taxes next month!

Typically units without the transducer included will have the letters CHO at the end of the title. That being said would make sure since they run a couple hundreds dollars from what I understand if you have to buy one separate.

Yea, Ive been told that a couple times now. In the meantime I called CS and they are forwarding my conversation to the people that actually ship out the products so my questions can get answered. I'm expecting for everything to come inside the package with the unit now but I'll wait until I get to talk with them about my other questions. Thanks for your reply.

Big sale on Birds next week at Bass Pro for the Spring Fishing Classic Sale. I use nothing but Birds and they are awesome. The chirp 2d is much improved! Can’t beat the side and down imagining views. You can count the fish!
Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!
