Default Talquin Trip Next Week (3/9-16)

I’m getting to take the Ol’ Ranger to Talquin. I’ll be there the 9th through the 16th. I’m bring my 79 year old Dad with me. Hoping to have a good trip for more reasons other than catching fish. Our family has had a rough year. Maybe this trip will do him (and me) some good. Any help you guys can throw my way would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Richard

I went over the presidents day wkd for the first time. Huge crappie in that lake! They will be in the pads by then no doubt! I would suggest slip bobber and jigs casting with single pole. Yall should be able to load the boat. We caught most of our better fish about mid lake area.

I took my Dad in Mid Feb. We caught some huge crappie. I hope you enjoy your time with your Dad as much as I did.

There is a chance I might be able to spend a day on Talquin next week (Will be in Tallahassee). Any tips on colors right now? I'll likely be spider rigging, have a simple fish finder but never fished this area before and still pretty new to crappie.

Colors and jig size tips would be welcomed!

    Thanks!!

Last weekend, colors didn't seem to matter much. We caught them on Bubblegum, Acid Rain, Bad Blood, Black/Blue/Chartreuse, Electric Chicken, Popsicle and Wildcat. Others I talked with were using completely different colors.....Good Luck!!

We had the same experience last weekend too. We caught em on a bunch of different colors. Plastic and hair jigs, and we found them from between 16 ft of water and back to the pads.
