Great tips, thanks dyoemans!
Well finally got rid of that nasty ole goose egg. Went to Lake Oconee yesterday and figured a couple of things out. First of all I wasn't fishing deep enough. I split spot of lead and double jig heads did the trick. I fished Lick Creek, Hwy 44 bridge, and Sugar Creek. All produced fish. Main colors were anything dark, with and without a chartreuse tail. I could see fish on my depth finder but I just couldn't seem to get them to bite, well finally I tried this little trick. I seen the fish anywhere from 15 to 20 feet of water. I tied a double jig ( 1/8 on bottom, 1/16 on top, a split shot of lead about a foot up from the 1/16). I let the line out until it bumped the bottom and then raised it about 1 to 3 feet and it was like turning on a light switch; it was on . Headed out again this Thursday and gonna put in the Long Shoals area. Hopefully the crappie will be biting full swing but if some of those strippers I've been reading about get on the line, well let's just say it won't make me mad. A special shout out to all that have given me and everyone else on CDC some instructions and encouragement on this wonderful sport of fishing. I know it's helped me so hopefully I will be able to help others in return. Best of luck to everyone and hopefully we meet on the lake...
