COMBO TROLLING TUESDAY 10/30/18 (VIDEO)

Jim and I combo trolled Lake Oconee yesterday and had a very productive day. The water temperature was 67-68 degrees and the weather was beautiful. The morning bite was awesome. The bite slowed down some as the sun got higher but we managed to catch a few fish along throughout the day. Jim pushed 8 rods out of the front of his boat and I pulled 8 out the back. A Charlie Brewer white/chart Slider Grub seemed to be the best producer. At the end of the day we kept 25 fish 11 inches or better. We probably caught another 10-15 fish in the 10 inch range that we released.The fish are still in the woods but during the morning there were a lot of fish in the tops of the timber from 8 feet to the bottom. The fish are starting to stir! It was good to see Curtis Hobbs (Litewirehooks) and Jody Stephens on the water. When you see those guys lurking around it is time to fish

Hotwater love your videos. Does the one on front catch as many as you do on the back. Would love to come down and fish your lake. I would know how to act if I had a good lake like that to fish.

LittleJohn thanks for watching the videos. We are blessed to have a lake like Oconee nearby. I really don't keep track of whether the most fish are caught in the front or the back of the boat. What I've learned is that every Crappie fisherman chooses the way he wants to fish. Personally, I like to catch them long lining. Jim has fished for Crappie a lot longer than I have and he likes to push jigs. In order for us to fish out of the front and back like we do one person has to spider rig and one person has to long line. Even if Jim wanted to long line I doubt we could effectively pull 8 more rods out of the front of the boat. It works great for us. No matter whose boat we are in Jim fishes up front and I fish out of the back. Hey, when we get to the ramp I always back the truck and Jim always loads the boat. I guess we are set in our ways but it works pretty smoothly for us. When I fish alone I sit up front facing backwards and will have 2-4 pushing rods up front and 8 pulling rods out the sides and back. Both techniques are productive and both have advantages and disadvantages. The main thing is to catch the fish the way you like to fish. A person on this forum once remarked that he did not like to fish a spot he didn't like to fish just to catch fish. I understand that emotion. I'm hard headed. I want to catch them the way I like to fish even if it means catching fewer fish. One of the great things about Crappie fishing is that you have several different options i.e. long lining, spider rigging, casting with a minnow and bobber, jigging brush piles, shooting docks, etc.. I know you just wanted me to give you the time of day. Instead I told you how to build a watch. I do ramble at times. Again, thanks for watching and I hope you have good fishing.

I am like you Hotwater like to catch them a certain way. Sometimes I get to stubborn and don't switch off like I should if one not producing.
