Lake Lanier
I was down visiting my daughter and SIL in Dunwoody (north Atlanta) a couple of weekends ago and we took a drive up towards Dawsonville. I didn't realize how close she lives to Lanier. My question is, how's the fishing on the south end of Lanier. I would probably target crappie but would be happy to catch anything that pulls back. I would be fishing out of a 16' deep V and would be down sometime during the cooler months, November-April or so. Any information is appreciated.

The lake is cooling down and the action is heating up. Stripers are starting to school, and the top water bass bite is getting good. I have not crappie fished there much, but I would not eat a crappie from south Lanier - too much e-coli in the water. Just a fact.

Thanks for the heads up. I got e-coli from a prostate biopsy for cancer in 2009. I spent 9 days in intensive care and was told by my Doc he could not find an antibiotic to kill for 7 days. I was on morphine and toradol for 8 days. I only got toradol every two days, it was the only thing that stopped the pain. At my follow up appointment my Dr said I almost didn't make. Then my oncologist called me the 2nd day in the hospital to tell me the biopsy was positive. That surgery was a cakewalk compared to the e-coli.Originally Posted by jawjatek

Wouldn't be concerned about keeping any to eat, just catching some fish. I may have to take the boat with me next trip down and give it a try. Looks like Mary Alice would be most convenient for us. Lots of fingers with boat houses in the area, too.

Mary Alice charges $5 to park. Not far away, across the cove, is Little Ridge park - free parking. That's where I go when I fish the Bald Ridge creek area. HTH

The back of young deer can be good in March and April .Try trolling white and chartreuse jigs in 1/32 and 1/16 oz. Shooting docks is equally effective. If you prefer up river ,any of the coves near toto creek are good
