    Default GA/FL Crappie fishing

Well I finally made it to So. GA. Just started the new job and will have to go to Tallahassee for a couple months. The office in Thomasville wont be open until Nov. Looking forward to working in Thomasville. Its a little hot for me to be out on the lake and Im sure the skiers and tubers are still pretty active. When it gets a little cooler I will be ready to learn some new waters. I think im within a couple hrs of Seminole, Talquin, Blackshear, and Eufala. I understand these lakes are not having the asian carp problems that we have had in western Ky. Not sure which lake I will start with but hope to learn a little about each of them.

Welcome to Georgia...it can be hot like this till November. Usually its starting to seem like Fall, but not his year.

Fish are biting on Blackshear despite the heat. I see one or two water lice on Thursday and Fridays when fishing, I don't know how bad it is on the weekends.

Seminole and Eufaula is on lakemaster. You will need navionics for talquin. Seminole and Eufaula are on navionics but are not as good as lakemaster. I have never been to blackshear so I don't know about it.

I Navionics and have no issues with it on Blackshear or Eufaula...both maps would be better if I would get around to updating it

I have two Lakemaster SE map cards but they are back in Ky with my other boat. I will probably get Navionics so I can use both if needed. Is there a specific card I should look for? I know the Lakemaster is broken up into regions.

You want the South Region...which I think the basic Navionics+ starts at $149.

Also go to this page, I use it to "scout" new water at home and also look for new spots in lakes I fish regularly

I have always bought the South region also, but 2 years ago I bought one with ALL the states on it for $20 more. There were a couple of lakes that I have fished that the South region didn't cover.

KFC, If you are gonna be in Thomasville, you will only be 1 hour from Talquin and just a few minutes from Lake Iamonia. Those are 2 very good places for crappie. Most people long line these lakes here in the south, but spider rigging works also. I think I'd leave the crankbaits in the tackle box tho...With all the structure in many of these lakes, that could get expensive.
I fish Talquin a good bit, so holler at me if you head that way....Good Luck!!
