Pray that the wind dont blow. That lake is a mess on windy days. That lake isnt that big. Yoy can cover the lake from the trussle to the dam in a 40 hp with ease.
I will be fishing Lake Blackshear for the first time on Monday. I grew up Crappie fishing with my dad in tons on farm ponds with a lot of success, but we never did a lot of lake fishing. I have a couple questions.
1) How far of a boat ride is it from the main ramp to the old train tracks with a 40hp? (We are staying at the resort)
2) We have fished jigs and minnows a lot, but never longlining in small ponds. When fishing the trees, is it best to cast and retrieve or does anyone fish the jig on a cork?
3) Any tips for makin my first trip to Lake Blackshear a success?

according to the weather it is going to be wendy 15 to 20 mph . i would traylor to the ramp on 300 good boat ramp . don`t know the direction of the wend but you could be ok on one side ot the other of the rail road bed . cedar creek is about half way it should be good to fish in the back end .
retired and now i will always fish
Veterans park is about 30 seconds from the train track. When you said resort is that Veterans Park? 2 ramps near it!
I am talking about where the lake Blackshear main Marina and hotel is. I thought the old tracks were at the very south end close to Smoak Bridge.
the old track where the trestle burnt out is just east of 300 bridge . that is why they call it smoke bridge .
