Default Oconee 3-11 to 3-16 It was brutal

We went on our annual spring crappie trip to Oconee for the 3rd year in a row...and by far this was the most brutal and tough fishing I have every experienced at Oconee. We had it had all, rain mixed with sleet, cold, heavy winds every day...only fished a few hours on Monday due to the 40 mph wind gusts that afternoon...caught a few fish each day, so it wasn't a total skunk. Water temps were 54* to 57*, heavy stained in the main lake, clear in Richland Creek. Fish were staged in the creek mouths in 15-20 fow, and would bite good until the wind got up and shut the bite down. The fish we caught were pretty decent with quite a few 1lb - 1.5lb and several 2lb+ fish caught. All in all it was a tough week fishing, but it beat working.

Dutch, you hung with the fish during almost impossible conditions. I tip my hat to you over the catches you made during your time there.

My fishing partner Charles and I built it. We call it the Slab-0-Matic.

Dutch, i had seen on earlier post you were at old salem all week and thought what tough week you would have. You guys are great (hard case) fishermen to fish in a hurricane. We took our 11yr old grandson Friday and started at daylight and fished til 5pm, we caught 26 slabs 12 to 14.5". Bite was slow where we fished but they are moving in. Hope you made a video of fishing in white caps. We will be back later this wek

Night bite was great thursday and friday. Kinfolks on toons caught huge fish, limits both nights.
