Default Night Fishing on Lake Harding

I would like to go nightfishing on harding 03/16/07. Any pointers? I don't crappie fish much so I don't do the spider rigs or troll. It's usually just 2 of us on my boat with 2-3 rods total in the water with minnows under a bobber or jigged up and down from the bottom up to the surface. We prefer to ty up to a bridge or anchor out in a good hole. What's good and close to longbridge? I'm not too familiar with harding, normally ty up under the bridge on Maple creek on West Point. Caught a cooler full (25-30 large crappie) Saturday night just out from under the bridge on Maple creek but I want to try harding this weekend.

Hello DBE. I have never fished Harding but I know someone that is THE expert on Harding. Get in touch with Falcon Smitty. Not only does he catch alot of crappie but most of what he catches are huge slabs. I know he will be glad to help you out. He is a great man.

I remember that tressle from the slabfest there. Shinerunner and I fished it. Man there were a ton of fish behind those pilings. It was almost every cast. And that was during the summer. I bet they are on fire right now.

I heard from some folks on Lake Harding that the train tressle up from the long bridge was a good place to try. I went back up to West Point last night, under bridge on Maple Creek. Not a bite until after 8:00pm, then it turned on. Around 20 keepers (currently residing in my freezer) and at least 3 thrown back for every one kept. They weren't as big as Saturday nights catch but I went through 4 doz minnows and had recycled quite a few of them. Left the bridge to come home @ 10:30. Most were just out from under the bridge, biting a minnow 3-4 ft under a bobber. Good fun, Good eats!

If your out there Friday night, stop by. Anyone who guides has got to have a few tidbits of info for me. I have a 1989 BassTracker Panfish Special 16 with a Tracker/Evinrude 25. Its a stick steer with a rubbermaid tub strapped into the front deck and 2 coleman laterns hanging up about 5 foot up in the air. Doesn't look like much but it floats and gets me to the fish.

I keep telling people I am not a real guide. I just catch crappie. I believe I can catch crappie on any given day of the year. I do take people fishing. If they leave money in the boat I assume it is for me. I still do trips but not as many as before the heart attack. I always seem to make friends of the people that I guide. then we are just fishing buddies. I'd rather just go fishing. I tell people where and how for free and will fish with most everyone. I will be out friday night I have a guy from north Ga coming to go fishing friday pm....I'll see ya.... hint...today I caught plenty in the first big slough on the left coming from the tressle towards the long bridge. A pontoon boat will be tied to a dock as you go in to the left start there and work your way back. try jig under cork 2' deep and also try just a jig no cork.. The bigger fish bit the jig with NO cork...good luck
