    Default LAKE OCONEE 6/15/17

I went back to Lake Oconee today and did some late spring long lining. The water temperature was 82 degrees at the start and 85-86 degrees when I finished. I found the morning bite to be slow and I had 8-10 fish by lunch. The afternoon bite was much better and I finished the day with 25 fish in the cooler. All my long lines were rigged with double jigs. I rarely catch two fish at a time but I caught five doubles today and of those ten fish only one was a keeper. For some reason every fish I caught on the back long lines made it a point to run perpendicular to the boat heading. I spent a lot of time untangling lines and tying on jigs. It was that kind of a day. I hate to leave fish that are biting but rumbling thunder and clouds ended my day.

Good job! We had a thunderstorm run us off early this morning. The rain caught us about a mile from boat ramp. We got soaked.

I got a bit wet on the way in also. Rain hitting you in the face when you are going 30 mph feels like hail!
