Default LONGLINING OCONEE IN 85 DEGREE WATER

Jim and I fished Oconee yesterday. We began by trolling deep in the mouth of Sugar Creek much the same as we did last week. Jim pushed 8 rods out of the front while also tending 4 long lines. I long lined an additional 6 rods out the back. The bite was tougher yesterday and we only had 6 fish at 9:30. The bite was slow but the quality was excellent. The picture below is our first fish which was nearly 15 inches long. The fish seem to be getting "thicker". At mid morning we moved south and continued to troll deep. The bite continued to be slow but we managed to pick up fish in different spots near timber. We covered a lot of water and found timber in two place we had never fished before. We caught fish in both places. We ended the day just after 5:00 with 21 solid fish. The water temperature was 80 degrees when we started and 85 degrees when we finished. The jig heads pictured are examples of the set-up used to get deep. From top to bottom a 1/16 jig head and a 1/16 oz sinker; 1/16 jig head and double 1/16 oz sinkers; 1/4 oz jig head with no additional weight; and double 1/16 oz jig heads. Curly tails were the bait of choice with popsicle, wildcat, and john deere gold (also pictured) being the best producers.

Will do Mike. Jim asked me yesterday if I had heard anything out of you lately.

Now that's what I call a great report. Tells me where I should be looking and how I should be fishing on my own lake. You guys have a nice cooler of fish...good size too. Congrats.

I just saw from your pictures that you have the same boat as me. I luv my G-3 !!! The good news is we just closed on our house so it's official I am a georgia Bull Dog. Hope to meet a bunch of you guys real soon. The sad news is I still have two more years till I can quit but I plan on fishing during my vacations till then. Looks like I made a good choice.

I do like my G3 also. Let me know when you are going to be down this way. If we can get together I will take you out and show you some good spots to fish.
