Default Is Lake Blackshear Spawn over? ................NO

I have heard several reports that the spawn is over and the crappie have started moving out. I totally disagree with this. For the past couple of days I have cought several crappie by dipping minnows next to trees that were no deeper than 3ft. I have also cought several long line trolling in 3 to 5ft of water and gotten some big slabs. Most of these crappie were female and still had big sacks of eggs. Some may have finished their business but most are still spawning.

The big girls are done in most area lakes. You will still catch some really good fish, but I am still catching them up to 1.5#. A month ago two of us caught 50 fish 1.25-2#+. The biggest girls have slowed down since then. We are still catching nice fish, just not as many.

I agree but I don't think they are done here on Blackshear. Heck there was a 3lb 3oz female hog cought just yesterday here on Lake Blackshear.

I still think their are a some bigguns left (obviously), but I'm heading north to try to follow the spawn a little.

For me , it is about the fellowship that we have, renewing old friendships and making new ones. enjoying good food together and having a chance to fish together. looking forward to seeing all of you there, God willing. Mr Jimmy
