I fished the middle part of the lake several days last week. First off, I am still pretty much a long lining rookie. I did not catch great numbers, but I did catch about an average of 10 crappie a day or so and most were good size. Females were still very much full of eggs so I don't think they have spawned yet and this cold front passing through will probably put them off a few days. It will not be very long off, though, as water temperature was 64 to 68 and could vary several degrees depending on the creek or river fished. If you long-line, beware of the little piranha hybrids. I hit schools of them that caused absolute havoc. There were usually some bigger crappie mixed in, but it was work to keep lines untangled and keep the jigs in the water. Just had to move on several times. Clarks Hill is so big it is like several lakes and I am not sure how the other parts of the lake are doing. Be sure to check the SC board.
