I took a friend to Lewis Lake in Bartow yesterday. He wanted to catch some crappie for his 70 birthday party. All he wanted was crappie to fry. We fished hard for a half day but only managed 3 crappie. We did catch some bass and Jack to go with the specs. I will get him a "mess" dammar at Lake Sinclair.

I don't know why the fish were slow to bite as they have never been a problem finding them in this small lake. The only thing I noticed was fuel oil was all over the lake. No idea were it was coming from but it was bad. I was using a floating minnow bucket and when we drifted in this fuel film on the surface, it killed most of the minnows.

I really hated to see this in this fine old lake. Behind the spillway of this lake is a Historic site called Tarver's Mill. Tarver's Mill - General Sherman and the Federal 17th Corps stopped at this mill on November 29, 1864, which was made famous by a drawing that subsequently appeared in Harper's Weekly magazine.

Good trip with my friend and Cuz as he has been sick for a few months.

I plan to finish Sinclair this week and head back up to Oconee next week and Clark Hill the week after Oconee. Then real fishing begins. Real fishing is Florida Shell Crackers in April and River fishing starting in May.
