Not from that area but you could ask at the bait shops or DNR rangers
It's been way too long since I caught a crappie but it is my favorite fish. I moved from Gwinnett County to Savannah area several years ago and have not been able to find anyone who has found good crappie waters.
I have a kayak and a 12 foot jonboat that I can fish from but havent gotten any electronics yet ( not sure exactly how to work one either).
Does anyone know of good crappie waters within a couple of hours drive of Savannah?
I am really looking forward to spending more time on the water catching some slabs.

outdoorsman, crappie fishing in this area is hard to find but you can find them if you know where to look. Ft. Stewart has a lot of ponds with crappie in them and the kyak is perfect to put in the ponds and catch them. go to Ft. Stewart at the outdoor rec. and get a permit and a map and ask them to tell you the ponds that have crappie in them. I also have a kyak and I have been waiting on the weather to cool to go myself. send me a pm If I can help you. Mr. Jimmy
Outdoorsman, Drill Instructer has fished Ft. Stewart a good bit and knows the best ponds to fish for crappie, send him a p.m. and he will be happy to help you. also I took out my map of stewart out and looked for Holbrook pond, I remember him saying that he caught crappie in it. It is just off of hwy. 144 in front of the small arms impact area. Hope this helps you. Mr. Jimmy
Thanks fellas, I'm going to try to get out pretty soon on the weekend. I thought about fort stewart but prefer going somewhere that is less regulated so can go to any day of the week.
Outdoorsman, I almost forgot about Lake Mayer in Savannah at Montgomery crossroads and Sallie Mood dr. it is in Sav. and has a boat ramp that you can put your jon boat or your kayak in and there are nice crappie in it. A sonar unit will be a big help if you have one. the north west end is the deepest part about twenty two feet if I remember right. good luck ! Jimmy

I have never fished Lake Mayer but have walked the park a couple times.
Do you know if Ebenezer Creek or Little Satilla hold good populations of crappie? I just found these and plan to fish them soon.
Do have a sonar unit but need to figure where to rig it in the jonboat.
Outdoorsman I have never fished Ebenezer creek, always wanted to but never have so I can't help you there. as far as your sonar unit I will be happy to help you set it up on your boat. If you send me a pm with your phone number I will give you my address and will be happy for you to come over and we will set it up. you need one at Lake Mayer to find the crappie but the crappie are in the lake..Hope this helps. Jimmy
