Hello all,
Has anyone fished High Falls or Indian Springs for crappie with any luck? I have fished both lakes a couple of times with not much success. Help

My fishing partner and I fished High Falls hard for crappie the past couple of years. We had good luck up until late February 2013. The last week of February that year we had a 3 inch rain storm. Since then the most crappie we caught in a day of trolling was seven keepers (10 inch or better). That was two people trolling all day with 16 rods. This past fall was no better. There may be others who have had great success but I'm just relaying my experience. I have finally given up on HF for the time being. As for Indian Springs the fish run pretty small but they can be caught. I had to bite the bullet and move on to greener pastures. Currently, DNR is drawing HF down to perform dam repairs so who knows how that will impact the fishing. I talked to a DNR biologist about the state of HF crappie and he said the numbers appeared to be good based on the netting they did this past fall?????
Hotwater, I'm real disappointed at what you wrote. Me and my dad was planning a trip in a couple weeks but I'm rethinking it now. I probably will go try it a couple times anyway. I have fished Indian springs and have to agree with you about the little ones in there. I believe it might have to many crappie in it because i only caught small ones.. I fish a small pond with crappie and i catch mostly small ones in it. It's so easy, catch one near about every cast when they're biting good.
