Default Help! Want a new boat! Want to keep the wife happy!

I have a Triton Pro Crappie with a 40hp. I'm looking for input on a more family friendly boat. Does anyone out there fish off a Carolina skiff? If so I'm wondering if the wind is a problem when you're long lining? I've been looking at the DLV series. OR I would also invite feed back on an Xtreme.

Don't own one, but have fished out of them. The negatives for me are that they ride rough as all get-out in rough water. The wind will play havoc with you on the smaller ones, don't know about the real big ones, though. I would love to have a more open floor-plan than I have, but since I don't have to keep my wife happy (she doesn't fish much) and I'm broke (two in college), I'll just have to make do. Some of the guys on here will help you out. Just my 2 cents worth.
    Hey.....open the livewell!

I had a 198 CS and it was set up to troll 4 or push two. The wind was no more of an issue than any other boat. The 198 with the semi V did well in rough water as I also used it on the Georgia Coast. I had a 90 Hp on this boat but would recommend a 115. It was a very good Crappie boat. My friend Fred has a 19 Key West set up to troll 4 and push two. The Key west also works very good in the wind. When you have wind use a section of chain on a 100 rope and toss it out the rear, it will keep you straight. Get the Salt Water 24V trolling motor.

    Hope this helps.

I started out in a 19 ft center console Carolina Skiff. I liked the roominess but it was a very rough ride. I have been thru 4 boats since then and I would suggest a Fish-n- Ski boat to satisfy the wife. I remodeled a ski boat for crappie fishing and love it, especially the windshield on those cold mornings and I have plenty of room. That type of boat should handle rough water better also.

Here's one you might want to check out. It's not new but a real nice fish & ski boat.

I just bought myself a Fish and Ski yesterday to satisfy the wife. She loves it and more importantly, I DO! 1988 Stratos 18ft with 140 evinrude. Caught a few today on it. Roomy and if you get a bimini for it she'll love you even more!

Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!

You know my opinion. My 20' fish and ski is great, and the whole family is happy.
