    Default Blackshear draw down

I heard today that Lake Blackshear is being drawn down for work on boat docks. Can anyone let me know if this is correct and when will it stop and when will it start back up.

    Thanks,
    dog1

Haven't seen exact dates but they usually start the first week in November and let it back up the middle of December.

The draw down of Lake Blackshear is done every other year for the maintenace of lakeside property and to kill alot of unwanted aquatic growth. The draw down begins on November 1st and will be brought back up December 15th. The crappie fishing is usually great during the draw down.

How hard is it to get a 17 ft. bass boat in at Veterans park after the draw down?

The main ramp that is on Gum creek is the best ramp during the draw down. No problem at all launching there. Its the ramp as you enter at the Vet Park from Hwy 280. Just as you cross the small bridge going into the park look to your right and you will see this ramp.

DJH, its no problem at all if you put in at the ramp just inside the park. I don't think the mega ramp is gonna be safe but the other ramp will be great. Thats the ramp I use during the draw downs.
