Default Going to oconee next weekend

    Hello guys,
I am planning on taking my dad to Oconee next sunday in hopes to fill my livewells with crappie. He wants to catch some for us to fry for my bachelor party coming up in a few weeks so I got to work some magic. HAHA.
This is the main lake in GA we fish so I know it pretty well. Just wanted some input from you professionals as to where they are biting, how deep, etc. I usually put in either at Sugar Creek or down at Long Shoals.
I went about a month ago and got a few bites jigging a minnow tiped 1/16th oz jig in the standing timber over near the dam. They were holding about 15-20ft in 30ft of water. I am sure things have drastically changed by now.
Any help or tips is appreciated. Thanks!

I cant help you much with Oconee, but I have heard some good reports from some co-workers. They have been longline trolling the Sugar Creek area and having some good luck...I don't know of any particulars as to how deep of water they were in or jig colors, but I will pass on some info if I find out anything...Good Luck on the fishing and the Wedding!!

The drop in the air temps this coming weekend should provide a drop in the water temp and some good trolling next week. The crappie may be in shock mode initially (lows in the 40's and highs in the 70's) but should start moving around feeding. I am going to shoot docks this thursday but early next week the pole holders are going on and away we go. I have already got my rods, lines, ect. ready. I HOPE I am not disappointed with the results. I get excited just seeing the increase in posts on this site in the last two weeks compared to nothing over the summer.

Papa Dawg let me know how the dock shooting turns out. You are going to Oconee arn't you? The problem I am going to have is I haven't got rod holders set up on my boat yet. I have always had decent luck in the spring spawn jigging down into brush or timber and even using a bobber. I am new to the spider rigging technique so hopefully I can get me some rod holders and extra rods real soon.
I guess I am going to put in at Long shoals and run over to the standing timber near the dam and try not to get my boat hung on a stump again. Then try to locate the fish on my fish finder and drop a minnow tipped jig down to the depth they are showing up at. If I dont have any luck there I will try some points and channel drop offs or run up to sugar creek and see what happens there.

mtnman - Yes, I am going to Oconee. I saw several boats in the stumps last week. With the water down the stumps are not hard to find. Be careful and good luck.

Papadawg did you get to go to oconee today? Have any luck? Anyone been this week. I am still going sunday and going to try jigging a minnow in the timber down by the dam and if no luck there I am going to run up to sugar creek and maybe hit a few fish attractor plots on the way.
