Default 30 Minutes on Clarks Hill 2/27

Took the winter cover off of the boat and took the wife and kids out for our first ride in 2011. Didn't really plan on fishing but I packed a rod and my 5 year old brought his Spiderman outfit "just in case". My five year old is starting to get interested in fishing so he wanted to fish for a minute and caught one a little over a pound by himself! I lucked up and hauled in a 2.1 lb'er myself....probably my biggest one ever! Too bad we only fished for 30 minutes before we got chased by the clock (getting two boys to bed too late on Sunday evening=a cranky way to start Monday morning). Don't know too much about crappie fishing but I definitely have the itch now. Both were caught on Red/Chartruse/White hair jigs in ~10 ft of water.

That will definitely give you a good case of "crappie fever"!!! Great to see you have the little guys out there with you.

30 minutes the young men will never forget. Take them often but bail out if it gets boring.

The boys are ready to get back out??? Try dad is ready to get back out!! But yes, the boys have been chomping at the bit to get back on the water. Thanks for the encouraging words and letting me share a good moment with you guys. I've been doing some reading trying to play catch up on how to corner crappie. I grew up on the coast (Beaufort, SC) and I'm fairly lost on fresh water so I may be asking some newbie questions after some trial and error.

Nothing wrong with that easton. We've all learned alot from our questions here on CDC. Fire away!

great job man, I will be ready when my litte boy is old enough to go with me. Thats a good catch especially off of a bowrider! You will have a crappie boat before you know it if ya stick around here long enough! BTW, Beaufort isnt too far from Santee, which has been producing some of the better catches of crappie in years. My dad got a cooler full of em, 2 or 3 yrs ago it was tough fishin out there, glad to hear its makin a comeback!
