Default Clarks Hill Report - 022411

Didn't do good at all today. Fished from first light until 5 PM when the wind just got the best of me and I called it a day. Ended up keeping 1 crappie weighing a pound even, 2 hybrids and 1 striper. Caught one other crappie that was a dink... so back he went to grow a little more. Water was stained but not too bad. Temps started out in the low 50's and peaked around 56/57 late in the day. Marked a lot of fish and had a lot of bites, but they just weren't wanting to commit. I did enjoy the day even though I didn't fill up on fish. Oh, I did catch a couple green carp. One small that maybe went half a pound and the other was in the 5 pound range. He was a lot of fun on a 13 ft. rod. Hopefully Oconee next weekend if the gas prices don't screw it up.

I fished in Big Hart, Germany Creek and Little River (GA side).

Sounds like a tough day. Was you spider rigging, longlining, etc? Did you head towards the back of the creek (in Hart) or fish the mouth around the hart park landing? Just curious...

    Better luck next trip.:o

That area has been rough to find some fish in lately, But they will be in there for sure.

Mainly spider rigging, but I did have 2 poles out just dragging a single jig each. All the fish I caught were on those poles but I was getting bites spider rigging so I didn't switch over to all longlining. Three of the fish were caught in the mouth of the creek in 26 fow. They seemed to be suspended in the 3 - 10 ft. range. I went further back in the creek around mid-afternnon. Marked a lot of fish but they had lock jaw. Of the other boats on the water I didn't see anyone catching much.

Thanks for the reply hunt4crappie. Hart Cr. is more than an hour's drive for me and I was thinking about going there on Saturday. I think I'll wait another week or two now though.:o

No man, I AM BACK. Wanting to live at the beach is much cooler than actually doing it I can't complain though, there were some good times.

My new house is built and we're back in Evans now.

We'll have to hook up one of these days. Can't forget that 3ft gar you caught on that 12ft BnM last time we went out
