my wm have hardly nothing,,,i get my stuff from microspoons or if bp has what i want i get it there,,,i live 15 mins from bp
We got a new one here in Lynn Haven, Florida..a huge, useless piece of junk. No gas pumps, automotive department, styling salon for the ladies, an almost nothing worth buying sporting goods department. Heck, it took 'em nearly a year to stock white corn meal after a lot of complaints. They do have a large, poorly stocked, electronics department. I talked to the manager and was told they stock what the home office dictates and it appears they don't know their behinds from a hole in ground. I was told it was an experimental layout and not even promoted as a superstore. Looks like they hired some Sears and J C Penny rejects to run the business. Walmart doesn't care about the customer (or it's employees). They are only interested in the bottom line profits. One good thing about this store. The Publix and Winn-Dixie stores nearby are doing better than before even though they are higher priced.

Got crappie?:D
Don't post here much but saw this thread and it sparked my interest! I spent 7 years working for WM, been away for about four now. I am noticing smaller and smaller sporting goods departments in the new and remodeled stores. I think as mentioned in posts above that this is a home office created trend. Some stores however still have large fishing sections but they are normally only the stores located extremely close to large lakes (for me the one in Cumming and Gainesville still have large fishing sections). The store I live close to has almost nothing!
Now, having gone through a remodel store with the company we were basically told by store planning how much space and what kind of products we could put and where. After the official "re grand opening" we went in and changed some things around to suit the needs of our customers. Maybe stores can still do this, maybe they can't as company's become more and more corporate driven. When I was there we did stuff in our sporting goods department like buying in a ton of zoom plastics and creating an extra wall. We bought jon-boats for a while and sold them in front of the store also. Local purchases were allowed as long as it was kept under a certain % of inventory. Maybe they can't do this now? If there are specific products that you want make sure to talk to the sporting goods manager or even the store manager. Also you can always call 1-800-walmart.
Luckily I live close to BPS so I go there often. I also like to support local business like micro-spoons and Hammonds fishing center as well. Good luck!
We have 2 W-Marts here in Polk County in N-West Ga. and selections in all depts. are lousy. Wonder what Old Sam would think about how they are at present! BB
I think all of the sporting goods departments in Walmarts have gone to pot!!!
Only fishing stuff I buy at Wally World is Micro Graphite rods, and not all of the have them for some reason.
Don't outsmart your common sense!

You are always better off price wise at almost anywhere besides BP. I bought a cheap rod at Wally World, Berkley Cherrywood for 19.95. I noticed the same rod for 26.00 at BP. Academy, if you have one is the best place to shop for tackle (IMHO).

Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian. Henry Ford
just got back frome wallieworld they have added some more floats . no hooks like i like .
retired and now i will always fish
Was there today at a so called super walmart. I don't know where they get super. they have less fishing and hunting stuff now then they did a month ago. As far as anything to do with fishing and hunting your better off going someplace else, Just my opinion.
