    Default Question about Spawn

THis maybe a dumb question, but will the crappie spawn between full moons, or will they wait until the full moon to spawn? i know that they are in the stages of spawn (shallow water and feeding heavy) but are they actually spawning during the month leading up to the full.? thanks

The crappie are moving shallow b/c they know the days are getting longer which tiggers them to start feeding so they can make it through the spawn b/c it takes a lot of energy and work. I always look for the magic water temp. which is 62 but some of the larger females will lay at 58 so you got to be a little early or you will miss the big girls. But, moon phase, water conditions, etc can also play a role in their spawn. Thats my two cents worth.

I agree with crappiesnack. Water temp and length of day. Don't think moon phase has as much to do with crappie as say bluegill and shell cracker.

I agree, it seems water temp has the most to do with it. I have been catching fish trolling all day and then the water temp gets around 58 to 59 and I started pitching to stick ups and the big fish were there. This was late in the afternoon after the water has warm up all day. The big fish come early and it is easy to miss them.

I agree 100% with the water temp....When it starts hitting the high 50's, be ready to hit the water!!
