As far as home lake advantage for a classic, you would have to go to Missouri or Arkansas for those of us on here that fish. Any lake in GA and even Talquin is going to have someone who considers that particular lake their home lake. I live in middle GA and fish Talquin 90% of the time so I consider that to be my home lake. But that does not necessarily give me an advantage over anyone. There are several of us on here that fish there frequently.
I do agree that there is an extra expense of buying an out of state license. But that is just one of those expenses that goes with the territory of tournament fishing...Even though it is "GA Slabmasters".
It is about as far for me to go to Clark Hill as it is to Talquin and I would also need lodging and meals if I go over there. That is one of the lakes on the trail and a darn great lake to fish. All of the scheduled lake a terrific lakes for crappie. And all of these GA lakes are where the points will be earned...Not Talquin....So why not have the Classic on yet another great lake where there are no points? Aren't all the classics usually held on great lakes around the country?
I am hoping to fish at least 2 of the tournaments so I can qualify for the classic, but recent obligations may not let me. I think that these guys have worked their butts off to give all of us the best and more from a Tournament Trail in its rookie season....I hope the best for the Trail and hope I can participate soon.

I agree, Im a Fl boy and although I want be able to fish the final or any tourny in May Im looking at joining them for one if its close enough. I have realized that you cant put a price on time spent fishing or hunting b/c then we wouldnt enjoy it near as much. I have never fished a tourny, as a matter of fact Im just getting into spider rigging the last couple years as I have always been a jigger. Where can I find the rules and tourny schedule as I might joing u guys for one in MArch or first of April. Im interested in it more for the fellowship and learning more than anything. Heck I dont know any of the lakes they will fish but Talquin and dont know it real good as I just started fishing it but the only way to better yourself as a fisherman and learn lakes is to fish w/ people that know and to fish lakes you never have fished.

Well I found the rules, and they seem to be just like the rules for all other tourny's(although I have never fished w/ a club I have several friends that do and I keep up w/ them and the club). Only problem I have is my rig doesnt have a live well. Looks like I will have to rig something up if I want to consider fishing a tourny or 2

Just use your cooler. Place your aerator in it and tape a block to hold it open about 1". You will have a great time and the knowledge that is in this blog is pricless. You don't have to fish the tournaments, just go to the slabfest. The people I have met, shared information, great food and fun. As with any organization, you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all the time. Georgia has some of the most active crappie fishermen (and families) that you would want to meet or correspond with. As you know, this information is free, the slabfest is free and you will meet new friends. I wish I had learned of this site ten years ago. It has helped my crappie fishing 500%. I thought I knew how to crappie fish until I met these fishermen. It's not like the bass tournaments I fished in the 60's+.

Hope to see you at a slabfest.
