I will give you some good reasons why we are doing the Classic at Lake Talquin.

    1. Due to the time of year we don't want our people to be bothered with boat traffic while trying to fish and average size of fish. Lake Talquin is a fishing lake and not a recreation lake for the most part.
    2. Home Field advantage.
    3. Sponsors who have stepped up.
    4. When you go on vacation you don't go across town, you want to go somewhere special, this year Lake Talquin is that special place and they do have a 10" limit..

Back to the original topic, Thats my point exactly...A florida member that was quick to comment feels this way too ...as do many others i'm sure ...Talquin has frequent visits by several members here in GA. as anyone can see by all the posts about it....theres a definite advantage there with these members it's true, and it being a 2-day event meaning double-points...... This end result will (not) determine in my opinion who is the best (Georgia) Slab Master just the best at Talquin But even more important is the (fact) that an event that far away will (schedule out) a large amount of valid GA. participants whom are forced to pay for multi-day accomedations in a slumping economy when most family's get one chance at vacation a year and fish aint gonna cut it when ya fish as much as we all do...Just my 2 cents

its simply impossible to find a lake in ga where someone is not going to have an advantage. but i do agree, all of the other tournaments are in ga, and there are lakes left out.( i know because it was kinda thrown together and started late this year and next year will be alot better!) but it seems as one of those lake could be the classic. but on the other hand, i understand if it wasnt possible to find sponsors at those lakes. also i understand the getting away for vacation thing, but the vacation should be in ga. its just all confusing. thats why i didnt bother to say anything at all. im just a "go with flow" guy and dont like stirring up thangs!

Thank for the explanation Tony. it's that these are valid points that have been discussed outside of this forum and needed to have a little light shed on them....What would be your take on activating a 10in restriction for next year on all lake tournaments...Quality fishermen catching quality fish??? Not a slab average but a true slab masters :D Dont all the winning weights contain mostly 10in fish anyway????

The Classic is a non points tournament (strictly for the cash) and the points winners are decided in the 1st six tournaments in Ga. The awards for that will be given Sat. at the Classic. A 2 day event means your combined weight for both days will determine the winners. We are working towards doing some seminars at well known places to explain the ins and outs of Tournament fishing for novices that have limited experience that are interested in tournament fishing sometime in the future, also other great places to find out more about the process would be attending SlabFests and our weigh ins to really see how tournaments work. We had a person on here that came this weekend checked it out, asked questions and now he feels more comfortable with it and is ready to fish with us now.

Hey Tony! I just knew that you were going to foul up somewhere. You did too good of a job up until now. Remember what i told you. You cant please everyone! SO- HERE IS YOUR SIGN AWARD. I think that you have done a great job and next year the classic should be Grenada. See you at Euphala!

You've done good with the tournament set-up and explanation Tony, I guess its safe to say that Talquin is an (award or reward) itself just for participating at 2 events with no merit taken from GA. anglers whom cannot attend it ...Well thought out :D
