I agree, courtesy is courtesy, but I can only go on my experience, especially this past weekend. All the boaters who came by me who slowed down and was plowing the water, causing an unecessary wake, ended up pulling out rods and casting for bass. None of them were crappie fishermen. Either they didn't care about the other boaters in the area or they were too ignorant as to proper boating procedures. I would rather have antoher boat go by me at WOT instead of slowing down to what they think is idle speed, which in reality is just plowing, causing a big wake, almost swamping me.

didn't mean to start this but since we are on the topic, lets discuss. I live in a lake community on lake lanier where on any given weekend you will see a houseboat, a speedboat, fishingboats of all sizes, sailboats, pontoons and yaghts. The one thing that all of them[ besides most fisherman] have is the lack of knowledge of the wake that they put out. They think that they are motoring down but don't understand that they are plowing 3 foot waves. It would be better to stay on plain than to slow down and plow. That goes for all boats fishing or pleasure. I think most fisherman respect one another but it is the jet skis, pleasure boaters, and none fisherman that make it impossible for me at least to fish lanier on the weekends.

Nope, having a great day. All I ask is that they pay more attention as to how they operate their boat around other fishermen, but I guess that is too much to ask. Just because they are fishing a tournament for money is no excuse to be a jerk. I was also fishing a tournament for money this past weekend, but I slowed down and showed the other fishermen COURTESY and RESPECT when passing them by. I did not let money cloud my judgement and put others at risk just to earn a few bucks.

i have noticed West Point has some of the No Wake buoys inside of some of the coves. this is a first for me outside of marinas, and swim areas. is this the state controlling this or community members within that cove because some have it and some do not. i know in TN we can even blow through bridges which is would get someone killed on this lake, i think its a great thing. of course some of our bridges back home are the huge interstate bridges but still can be dangerous.

The buoys are or were a limited no. I found my first on riding and looking at the graph. I know that I made some people mad but I wasnt paying attention to a buoy. I was looking for fish. Most of West Point is open. I havent been up there for a year, it may have changed.
